i like this one it looks like its modeled after a real gun if i had to nit pick i would say the for-grip is a little too close to the trigger i cant see anyone comfortably holding that thing with there knuckles mashed together

I agree, it is a bit tight. If i ever do a redesign I would space it out better.

Does this load via a P.08 Toggle system or something? There's an odd lump like that just in front of the stock.

Also, why does the barrel have it's own mini-rail?

hi,
thanks for the comment!
I did not intend for it to load like the p.08 but that is not a bad idea. maybe i should have
the barrel has a rail for lasers or lights.

Ah, okay.

But wouldn't the laser go on the side like most modern Sub-Machine guns. The whole thing looks a bit unergonomic. Ring Trigger is a nice touch, though.

its okay. with a laser right on top of the barrel makes it easier to fire from the hip. ring trigger gives the trigger less weight as this allows faster trigger pull. also now that the laser isn't on the side make this gun easier to place in small compartment without modification. giving the gun the wooden outside looks good and would drop weapon production cost as you are using cheaper material, this shouldn't drop quality of firearm. good work!

Hey- would you be interested to see what this inspired in real steel? I had an idea rather similar to this, and well, simply put- yours is so very much prettier!

I'm actually waiting on an order of steel, and intend to make something based (somewhat loosely) on what you've done here. Major differences are that mine will feed from a stick magazine behind the firing hand, and the barrel will be about 16 1/2"(for reasons of legality, the barrel must be longer than 16", and the overall length must exceed 27"). Due to the overwhelming amount of magazines I have in 9mm, that'll be the caliber it will end up as. The sticks will be a 36-rounder, and a rather wide, but good 50-round "coffin" type. The magazines are those used in the Finnish KP-31, but I won't make it run the 71-round drum, as it would make the distance between the magazine and firing hand too great.

I normally don't post pictures of guns, but if you want, I'll do it as I build the bloody thing! Let me know, in any case!

that is so cool! i have never thought of the option of making a gun... i have no experience with metal but i do make a lot of my own equipment. maybe one day i will learn how to work with metal and make some guns. i would really love to see the progress!

Well, we do have some things we can do you cannot, at least for now...

If you extended the barrel of this model firearm, would you add a bit of length between the front and trigger grips? 2 things I thought would be fun and well... "handy" are a folding front grip- (I have a spare Bren front grip to base that on) and second, a bit of space between the grips. That way you could go with a vertical "tactical" grip, or a more traditional, rifle-like grip- whichever was more comfortable. I also plan to use an HK-like charging handle in the space between the pic rail and the top of the receiver. I'm kind of "noodling" on the shape of the receiver, now. I have the parts to make a round-tube type here, now, but think it would look odd with a round tube, rather than a rectangle~ Bah! Can't wait for the steel to arrive! Then I can really get it going!

well actually i am half american myself... my father is american and i grew up near los angeles so i have a passport and everything. im seriously planning to move back to america because of the better gun laws. i would like to have a gun collection. i am currently working on a animation project for a friend but when i finish i will make a new painting based on what you said...

Ah! Excellent! Well, I'd avoid both California and New York, if you actually want a collection. Both states are very restrictive, and limit you in ways that are both stupid and un-intelligent. I'm in Nevada- we have a whole DIFFERENT set of issues, but still, I like it here!

I think I figured out how I want to do the bolt and receiver body- now to play with some thin wood to see if it will maybe work.

for sure! im not that crazy about big cities anyways. I would easily move to a small out town if i could. the problem is im an animator and there is probably not much animation going on in Alaska or Montana... i was born in new york but i really cant stand the place, i dont understand how people live so crowded...

Hear that! Well there are some nice places in Northern California, but you are so limited in choices for a good living~ the cost of living is so very high. And, again- we come to the laws, not just for guns, but everything. It's why I left my home of 22 years, sadly...

yeah i am having a long series of arguments with my family about guns... i dont live with them or anything but they still drive me nuts. they keep saying that i dont need guns in canada because nobody breaks into houses there and i keep telling them that the guns have nothing to do with that...i just like them!

That wood is tremendous. I may be mistaken, but is the receiver based on a backwards facing Kalashnikov receiver or is it all original?
